Dave Gibbons graduated from Villanova University in 1965. After obtaining a master’s degree in history in 1968, Dave pivoted to a long career in business. He spent 28 years with 3M Company in various management roles that included five years overseas in Asia, as well as running several 3M's global businesses. He was also President at Rubbermaid Corporation from 1996 until 1999; Chairman and CEO of Perrigo, a global consumer and generic drug pharmaceutical company, from 2000 to 2008; and Chairman of the Board of Cott Corporation, a private label beverage manufacturer, from 2008 to 2017.

 

Dave knows first-hand the suffering that cancer inflicts. In the early 1980’s Gibbons' teenage son was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma. At the time, the cancer was considered 99% fatal. His son survived, but like many childhood cancer survivors, lives with residual health effects of treatment. Gibbon's journey through the healthcare system seeking out the newest treatments available at institutions including Mayo Clinic and Memorial Sloan Kettering led to his interest in improving healthcare outcomes for children with cancer.
